Experience

In our local Gokasho Kondo area, the townscape of the late Edo period is exceptionally well-preserved. Our property is a refurbished mansion that was once home to the Tonomura Uhee family, a renowned merchant family whose success put them among the wealthiest ranked elites of Japan at the time.

At the Hotel

Discover the Lives and Legacies of the Omi Merchants

The Omi merchants were instrumental in shaping the business landscape of Japan, guided by the “Sanpo Yoshi” philosophy – beneficial for the seller, the buyer, and society. This belief extends beyond one’s profits to consider the well-being of every type of stakeholder including consumers, local communities, and the global environment. Their management approach, which developed over generations of local merchant families, promoted coexistence and mutual prosperity, ideals that captured the attention of global business leaders.

Relax in Total Tranquility

In addition to exploring the architecture and philosophy of Omi merchants, you will treasure moments of calm in this deeply peaceful environment. Take a stroll through the exquisite Omi merchant Japanese garden out back, where you can feed the koi in the pond. Relax with a book or savor some local sake while admiring the picturesque garden views through the windows.

This experience is crafted with great care to provide a serene and enriching escape, immersing you in the tranquil beauty and culture of the Omi merchants’ world.
